Drafting and Tinkering

During our concept time we have been studying healthy living and how we can encourage ourselves to make healthy choices. We looked at posters and the idea of drafting to create the best product we can. Emma took her work home and drafted six times before she wanted to publish! Even when she published she changed it. What a fantastic mindset! 👊 The power of tinkering ensured students had the choice to finish their work if they wanted to.

Maker Space and Tinkering

We are so fortunate to have such an incredible environment and seeing the students use spaces purposefully is wonderful. These students started some literacy work on planning and building robots, and many of them in their own 'tinkering' time returned to the space to complete these imaginative machines!

Tinkering = Choice

The students love tinkering. The opportunity to choose something they have already worked on and explore ensures they are engaged and giving their best. This is something we want to capture more often! 😃 Next term we will begin to give them the option of choice in what they learn in literacy and maths.

Learning to use Spaces Effectively

Depending on the activity students are given the opportunity, with a green ticket, to choose the right space to work effectively. Some will work in areas so they can focus by themselves and other areas are more suitable so they can collaborate. We are definitely getting better at making the right choice of where to work. 😃

A butterfly emerges

We were very lucky to catch the moment today when one of our butterflies emerged from its chrysalis just after lunch! We had to perform a wee rescue as it fell off the plant. This is the second time it has fallen! We weren't even sure this one would emerge as we had sellotaped the chrysalis to the plant.
